Dr. Jamie Mey
Born and raised in Rhode Island, Jamie is a graduate of Sacred Heart University’s Class of 2015 Doctoral Physical Therapy Program with her bachelor degree in Exercise Science. While at Sacred Heart, she was a collegiate hockey player. Jamie appreciates one-on-one care, with emphasis on hands-on manual therapy and approaching rehabilitation with a functional outlook. She believes the physical therapy experience is not just about pain reduction, but also the enhancement of function and performance through a proactive versus reactive mindset.
Since starting her career, Jamie quickly became certified in Gray Cook’s Selective Functional Movement Screen (SFMA), as well as Emergency Medical Response (EMR). In the spring of 2017, she became a Board Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS) through the American Physical Therapy Association. This specialty certification allowed her to further develop her knowledge and expand her expertise with more complex orthopedic conditions, post-operative rehabilitation and musculoskeletal injuries. Jamie has a particularly strong interest in working with complex shoulder pathologies, postural dysfunction, athletic/sport injuries and overuse injuries.
Because of Jamie’s passion behind assessing and treating patientsfunctionally, she later became certified in Gray Cook’s Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and a specialized golf assessment certification from the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI). TPI is a golf-specific screen that allows Jamie to assess individual bodily limitations and impairments that are patient-specific. By targeting these individual impairments through rehabilitation, Jamie can then enhance one’s golf fitness and overall swing mechanics by breaking down the golf swing. Due to similarities in the golf swing compared to the ice hockey shot, Jamie also uses this screen to help influence the power and efficiency of a hockey swing. Jamie is also certified in dry needling through Myopain Seminars and Personalized Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Training through Owen’s Recovery Science.
In her spare time, Jamie continues to play ice hockey weekly in the Boston area. She loves visiting her family back in RI to spend time at the Newport beaches and participating in water sports. Jamie also enjoys hiking and hopes to experience additional National Parks since her most recent Zion trip.
