Dr. Holly Fitzgerald

Holly is a 1997 graduate from Ithaca College with her BS in Clinical Science and her MS in Physical Therapy. She later went on to complete her Doctorate in Physical Therapy through Northeastern University. While at Ithaca she was a member of both the soccer and lacrosse teams. Professionally she has practiced in outpatient Orthopedics for over 20 years and is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) through the American Physical Therapy Association. She has also earned her certification in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy through the McKenzie Institute (Cert. MDT). In addition, Holly is certified through Functional Movement Systems for her examination techniques that are complimented by the integration of the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) - which allows for a full-body screen of multiple regions of possible impairment. Aside from traditional physical therapy techniques, Holly also practices manual therapies such as dry needling, spinal manipulation and instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM).
Holly is a clinical instructor for Ithaca College, Northeastern University and Simmons College. She is also a member of the Melrose Running Club and guest columnist for New England Runner magazine. Holly continues to play soccer in several leagues around the greater Boston area and has competed in 17 marathons to date. She lives locally with her husband Sean, their son Hunter and daughter Reagan.
Holly’s patients appreciate her personal attention to both their physical condition and the emotional affects it has on their lifestyle. Her sincere, straight-forward approach to rehabilitation is both technically sound and based upon realistic expectations of the patient’s potential. Overall health and wellness continue to be an integral part of her treatment and this continues to yield fantastic results with those under Holly’s care.
