Running Gait analysis

Understand How You Move. Improve How You Feel.

We love runners!

Our gait analysis service provides a detailed evaluation of how your body moves, helping to identify the source of underlying issues, prevent future injuries and improve your running performance.

Whether you're recovering from an injury, experiencing recurring pain, or looking to PR your next race, gait analysis can help uncover the root causes of movement dysfunction and get you moving BETTER!

What is Running Gait Analysis?

Gait analysis is the systematic assessment of the way you walk, run, and move. During the
evaluation, your Doctor of Physical Therapy will observe and measure key aspects of your
movement, including:

● Walking and running mechanics
● Stride length and cadence
● Foot and ankle motion
● Knee and hip alignment
● Posture and balance
● Weight distribution
● Joint mobility and muscle function

By examining these movement patterns, we can identify compensations, weaknesses, imbalances, and biomechanical issues that may be holding you back.

Who can benefit from a running gait analysis?

You may benefit from a running gait analysis if you are:

● Experiencing pain with running
● Returning to running after a serious injury
● A new runner looking for form guidance
● An experienced runner looking to maximize running efficiency

What to Expect During and After Your Evaluation

Your running gait analysis appointment will be 1 hour in length and begins with a conversation with your therapist about your goals for the session. Your therapist will then observe your running gait at various speeds and provide cues to optimize form and efficiency. Your therapist may take pictures or videos to help explain findings, which may be provided after the session.

In addition to explanation of picture or video analysis of your running gait, your therapist will provide documentation about your specific gait pattern with recommendations to optimize form and performance. If specific concerns arise, your therapist may suggest therapeutic exercises or initiating a physical therapy plan of care.

Our goal is to help you move more efficiently, reduce pain, and return to the activities you enjoy with greater confidence.
